BIOGRAPHY
Federico Fierro is a visual artist, graphic designer and creative director. His work lies at the crossroads of contemporary artistic practices and graphic strategies specific to brand identity and design. For more than twenty years his work has inclued artistic & graphic creation, digital design, animation, publishing, video, installation, sound design and exhibition curating. Deploying to serve clients ranging from artists or craftsmen, through start-ups and up to companies and local authorities, this diversity of disciplines is complemented by his experience as a painter and conceptual artist.
As a visual expert, he has participated in multiple exhibitions, conferences, and curated exhibitions. Winner of artistic distinctions, his work has also been the subject of various publications. Since 2009, he has also been a fine arts teacher.
Born in Colombia, Federico Fierro studied fine arts in Bogotá, then, arriving at the age of 20 in France, in the 2000s, he studied visual arts at the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne, and attends the National Schools of Fine Arts of Marseille and Cergy.
From 2003, Federico Fierro participated in the European Advertising Film Festival in Meribel, then was presented from this year and until 2007 by the Artupdéco gallery in its spaces in Paris, Lyon, Nice and Tokyo. He creates spatial design for the Air and Space Museum, followed by textile design for rapper Booba’s Unkut brand. Between 2006 and 2012 he joined the Artgeneration gallery in Paris where he presented his first personal exhibition. He was awarded at the 53rd Salon d’Art Contemporain de Montrouge in 2008, then the following year he joined the art library of the Espace d’Art Actuel de Basse-Normandie Le Radar in Bayeux. He participate from this year and until 2016 in the Art Protects exhibitions at the Yvon Lambert Paris Gallery for the benefit of the AIDES association.
The same year he designed the website for the Fine Arts School of Clichy and joined the teaching staff. Federico Fierro leaded workshops at the Escola d’Art i Disseny de l’Ajuntament de Rubí in Spain and will join the jury for the Creation and Artistic Production Found of the Center Regional Council, until 2011. The city also commissioned him, for its art center, Le Pavillon Vendôme, to create a sound artwork for the Nuit Blanche, This will begin a 15-year artistic collaboration with Amélie Weirich. This year he will also participate in the Issy Biennale at the Musée de la Carte à Jouer and will found Bulb, an association for social action and artistic production whose cultural and educational action will continue for 10 years.
In 2012 Federico received the DICRéAM award from the CNC-National Center for Cinema. The same year he participated in exhibitions at the Cité Nationale de l’Histoire de l’Immigration, the Bourges Contemporary Art Biennale, the Nuit Blanche achieve an educational project for the contemporary art center of Saint-Denis, Synesthesia. He became art director for the music producer La Triperie. After a solo show for the Colombian Embassy in France, the following year, he create and directed Coordonnés, a contemporary art circuit for the city of Pantin, bringing together more than 150 artists.
From 2014 to 2019 he created posters for each season of the Le Fenouillet theater. In 2019, he participated in the ANEDD at Toulouse Business School, and became artistic director for Elever la Voix Films. Recently he will be the exhibition curator and museographic designer for the Clichy Art Center, Le Pavillon Vendôme.
During his career, his work was subject of articles and press publications like the Le Parisien, Artpress, Le Quotidien de l’Art, Slicker Magazine and La République de l’Art. His work was also promoted by the CND-Centre National de la Dance, and, published by the Revue Composition, it was presented at Mains d’Œuvres and at the Maison Rouge. His audiovisual work has also been broadcast by channels such as France3, TV5 Monde and Arte.
